Canada is doubling down on the power of genomics with a groundbreaking $175.1 million investment. This ambitious initiative, the Canadian Genomics Strategy, aims to transform cutting-edge research into tangible breakthroughs across vital sectors, solidifying Canada's position as a global leader in this rapidly evolving field.

Announced by Yasir Naqvi, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health, on behalf of Innovation Minister François-Philippe Champagne, the seven-year strategy, commencing in 2024, promises to unlock a new era of innovation and prosperity.

"Today’s launch of the Canadian Genomics Strategy will help solidify Canada’s position as a global leader in genomics innovation and place our talented researchers, innovators and businesses at the forefront of this cutting-edge work,” said Champagne. “By investing in the commercialization of genomics technologies, our government is securing a healthier and more prosperous future for Canadians for generations to come.”

The strategy's core focus is bridging the gap between groundbreaking research and practical applications.
